 Lincolnshire Council for Voluntary Youth Services (LCVYS) is a membership infrastructure organisation open to all voluntary agencies that are engaged in the provision of informal educational opportunities for children and young people in Lincolnshire. It especially seeks to promote and support good quality developmental work with the 0-19 age band which is delivered via its member organisations. LCVYS is committed to cooperate with other agencies within both statutory and voluntary community organisations towards improving the provision for children and young people within this age band.

 In furtherance of this objective LCVYS undertakes to work within appropriate locality frameworks to encourage and support member organisations to:

 Provide beneficial positive and challenging activities for children and young people in a secure and stable environment;

  • Impart accurate and impartial information advice and guidance which enables children and young people to make decisions about healthy lifestyles, personal and social development, with support from voluntary adult workers;
  • Work in a safe and legal manner so as to reduce risk to young people;
  • Work around issues of discrimination and justice;
  • Provide straightforward systems for validating, recognising and celebrating the achievements of young people and staff/volunteers;
  • Help develop structures that involve young people in democratic processes, environmental issues, local and global communities and which promote responsible attitudes to planning and action;
  • Work with young people so that they gain an understanding of their own worth and skills and have the confidence to project themselves in a positive manner in order to take their place as adults in the economic and wider community.
  •

 Encourage, promote and enable member organisations to share best practice with regard to policy development, operational   procedures and current legislation, including;

 Adoption of safe recruitment practices:

  • Aspirations to be leading practitioners in their field;
  • Acting as a collective and representative voice of voluntary youth services in Lincolnshire.
