SafeguardingWhat is meant by 'Safeguarding Children'?Safeguarding is basically about keeping children and young people safe from 'Significant Harm' - also referred to as Abuse and/or Neglect. Under the Children Act 2004, all those who come into contact with children and families in their everyday work, including people who do not have a direct role in relation to child protection, have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) Lincolnshire SCB is a statutory board which has been set up as part of the Every Child Matters reforms, and requires all organisations that work with children to cooperate to keep children safe from harm. The Lincolnshire SCB agrees how local services and professionals should work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. At the heart of establishing the Lincolnshire SCB is the desire to provide useful information and a user friendly tool which will aid children, young people, their families and professionals to ensure safeguarding is everyone's business LCVYS has it's own Safeguarding Policy which is free to download. See our section on Policies.
